MEMBERSHIP
WHAT MEMBERSHIP MEANS
The National Charity League (NCL) is a mother-daughter organization that provides philanthropic support to other non-profit organizations in need throughout our community. Mothers and daughters also have the opportunity to become closer by participating in educational, leadership, and cultural activities. These four areas of endeavor help our daughters to develop into compassionate and community involved young women.
MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
- Patroness: A mother who had been an active member for at least one year. She may serve on the Board as a voting member.
- Provisional: A mother who is in her first year of membership. She may serve on the Board as a voting member.
- Sustainer: A mother who no longer has an active Ticktocker daughter. She must have been an active member for at least 2 years. She may serve on the Board as a non-voting member.
- Ticktocker: A 7th to 12th grade daughter of an active mother.
MEMBERSHIP OBLIGATIONS
- Service: The minimum yearly requirement for service hours is 20 hours for all members; 10 philanthropy hours and a recommended 10 league hours.
- Attendance: Attendance at our chapter league events helps members to become connected to one another and strengthens the bond of the entire chapter. Attendance at the spring “Mother/Daughter Tea” and the “Fall Fling” are strongly encouraged.
- Financial: There is a one time entrance fee of $25 for each new member ($25 for mother and $25 each, for each daughter). In addition to the One Time Entrance Fee, annual membership dues are $110 per year, for mother and one daughter. Each additional daughter is an additional $45.
CHARACTERISTICS OF AN NCL MEMBER
- She understands the importance of all four areas of NCL – philanthropic, educational, leadership and cultural – and will make all activities that involve her and her daughter(s) a priority.
- She understands and is willing to commit the time to fulfill the philanthropic, league and committee obligations to her NCL chapter.
- She fully understands and is willing to support the chapter financially through annual chapter dues and chapter fundraisers.
- She is willing to make an extra effort to become acquainted with all chapter members and looks forward to establishing new relationships. She also understands the importance of assisting her daughter(s) in making new acquaintances.
- She understands the importance of working together with chapter members towards the betterment of the chapter.
- She understands the importance of a positive attitude and constructive problem solving in all NCL matters.
HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER
Membership is open to young women entering 7th to 12th grade and their mothers. Prospective new members are asked to complete a brief application. The application is reviewed by the Membership Committee and approved by the Board of Directors.
